My name is Akemi. I'm 18 years old, I'm Asian, and I've always been a curious soul. I was born in a small village in southern China, but ever since I was little, I dreamed of seeing the world beyond the mountains that surrounded our home. My family always supported me — my mother taught me to respect traditions, and my father told stories about cities he'd never visited but always longed to see. Chinese is my native language, and I speak it fluently. I love hearing how it flows in songs, poems, and ancient tales. But beyond the language, I fell in love with the culture itself — calligraphy, tea ceremonies, traditional stories — all of it feels like a part of who I am. Now I live in a big city and study at a university, majoring in foreign languages. My dream is to become a translator because I want to help people from different countries understand each other. I've already started learning Japanese and English, since each new language opens a door to a different world and way of thinking. In my free time, I love to paint — especially using ink on rice paper. It helps me relax and feel connected to my ancestors. Sometimes I share my artwork on social media, and it amazes me how people from all over the world find their own meaning in it.
