I have always felt that life is a journey, one of those that are long and winding, with unexpected stops and detours that end up taking us exactly where we need to be.. Since I was a little girl — or since I started to feel really myself, rather — I knew that I didn't want a static existence.. I liked to look at the world with fresh eyes, as if everything was a scene ready to be explored. There’s something liberating about moving, changing cities, meeting people who don’t know anything about you. I like to think that I'm not running away from anything, but I'm running towards everything. Seeing the sunrise in different places, learning words in different accents, blending into the crowd without anyone knowing where I come from, it fills me with energy. I was never made for roots, but for wings.

I remember the first time I walked into a party without feeling like I was wearing a mask. I was wearing an emerald green dress that I found in an antique shop, in this city that I love so much, the one where the streets smell of hot bread and where the balconies are full of flowers..

I had red lips, loose hair, and when I looked at myself in the mirror in the hostel bathroom, I smiled. It was not vanity. It was relief. As if finally, my reflection was aligned with what I have always felt inside. That night, I danced without stopping. Nobody asked me any questions. Nobody doubted. And it was beautiful. I was just me, being, living, breathing.

People often think that living like this is fleeing responsibilities. But they don't understand that, for some people, the greatest act of responsibility is to be true to yourself.. There were years when I pretended, where every step was heavy, where my voice sounded like an echo from another life. Those years taught me to cherish the freedom I now have. When I walk down a street full of neon lights, with music coming out of bars, laughter on every corner and the heart beating for the unknown, I know it was all worth it. It wasn't always easy, of course. There are still looks that weigh more than they should. Sometimes, I find myself anticipating explanations that I owe to no one. But then, I remember all the way. Every friend I made, every conversation with strangers that filled me, every karaoke night where I shouted songs like prayers. all this has built me. I am made of these moments, more than my past.

I love the sea. Maybe because it looks like me: changeable, free, profound. I love to swim until my arms hurt, until the world becomes silent underwater. There are no names or stories, only the sensation of the body moving, without fear. I like to imagine that once I was a mermaid. Or maybe I still am, a little, in this life.

I travel light. I don't like to accumulate. My luggage is small, but I carry the essentials: a journal I've been writing for years, an old faithful camera, and a collection of postcards that I send to an address that no longer exists.. I write them anyway, like a ritual. They remind me that the path is not only outer, but also inner. Sometimes I take a break. I rent a small apartment in a city where no one is waiting for me. I become a regular customer of a cafe, I smile at the people of the market, I walk aimlessly. And when I feel I've lived enough in this corner of the world, I pack my bags, I say goodbye in silence, and I leave.

Life, for me, is this: to be in motion, not to escape, but to find myself at every step. I am happy in my skin, in heels or barefoot, laughing with strangers or alone in front of the mirror. I don't need to explain how I got here. I just need to keep walking, dancing, exploring. Because this journey, even if it has not always been easy, it is entirely mine.
