One of my favorite books Divina Comedia by Dante Alighieri, is an epic poem, literary genre that consists of the narration in verse of the feats of the heroes. Such feats constitute a virtue model, whether true or fictitious.. This text represents a compendium of medieval culture and knowledge, both in the religious and in the philosophical, scientific and moral spheres.. Originally, the poem was called comedy, a name that designated the works with happy endings, by opposition to the classical concept of tragedy.. When Giovanni Boccaccio received the order to write about the work, he called Divine Comedy to show the centrality of Christian values.. Dante, the alter ego of the poet, is lost in the middle of a dark jungle.. At dawn, it reaches an illuminated mountain, where it is besieged by three symbolic animals: a leopard, a lion, and a wolf.. Virgil's soul, the Latin poet, goes to his aid and let him know that his beloved Beatriz has entrusted him to take him to the doors of Paradise.. For that, they must first go through hell and purgatory.
