To reach this conclusion, researchers studied the relationships of 3,000 people, and in this way, an initial finding was made. According to their calculations, a simple five-year gap within a couple could increase the risk of separation by 18%. A risk that can go up to 95% with a gap of more than twenty years between the two partners. Also interesting to note, this figure is 39% for couples with a ten-year gap. Even more surprising, this percentage rises to 95% for relationships where partners have a 20-year age gap!
Beyond Three Years: a Variable Terrain
According to Beigbeder, the famous writer and publicist, love lasts three years. He seems to have been visionary once again. Indeed, according to scientists, a gap of four to six years can still support notable marital satisfaction, but with distinct challenges.
