What are the causes of premature ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation occurs when a man ejaculates earlier during sexual intercourse than he or his partner would like.[1] Premature ejaculation is a common sexual complaint.[2] Estimates vary, but up to 1 in 3 men report experiencing this problem at some point.

However, you may be diagnosed with premature ejaculation if you:

  • Ejaculate always or almost always within one minute of penetration
  • Are unable to delay ejaculation during intercourse all or most of the time
  • Feeling anxious and frustrated and tending to avoid sexual intimacy as a result

Psychological and biological factors may play a role in premature ejaculation.Although many men feel embarrassed to talk about it, premature ejaculation is a common and treatable condition.Pharmaceuticals, counseling, and sexual techniques that delay ejaculation or a combination of these can help improve sexual relations for you and your partner.

What are the symptoms?

The main symptom of premature ejaculation is the inability to delay ejaculation for more than one minute after penetration. However, the problem can occur in any sexual situation, even during masturbation.

Premature ejaculation can be classified as:

  • Lifetime (primary)

Life-long premature ejaculation occurs all or almost all the time starting with your first sexual intercourse.

  • Acquisition (secondary)

Acquired premature ejaculation develops after you have had previous sexual experiences without ejaculation problems.

Many men feel that they have symptoms of premature ejaculation, but the symptoms do not meet the diagnostic criteria for premature ejaculation. Instead, these men may have naturally variable premature ejaculation, which includes periods of rapid ejaculation as well as periods of normal ejaculation.

When to See a Doctor

Talk to your doctor if you ejaculate earlier than you would like during most sexual intercourse. It is common for men to feel embarrassed about discussing sexual health problems, but that doesn’t stop you from talking to your doctor. Premature ejaculation is a common and treatable problem.

For some men, a conversation with a doctor may help reduce concerns about premature ejaculation. For example, it may be reassuring to hear that occasional premature ejaculation is normal and that the average time between the start of sexual intercourse and ejaculation is about five minutes.

The cwings

The exact cause of PE is unknown. While previously thought to be purely psychological, doctors now know that premature ejaculation involves a complex interaction of psychological and biological factors.

Psychological causes

Psychological factors that may play a role include:

  • First sexual experiences
  • Sexual abuse
  • Poor image of the body
  • Depression

  • Feelings of guilt that increase your tendency to rush into sexual encounters

Other factors may play a role:

  • Dyserection of the stomach.Men who fear getting or maintaining an erection during intercourse may rush to ejaculate, which can be difficult to change.
  • The anxiety. Many men with premature ejaculation also have anxiety problems, either specifically related to sexual performance or related to other problems.
  • Relationship problems, you know.If you have had satisfactory sexual relationships with other partners in which premature ejaculation has occurred rarely or not at all, it is possible that interpersonal problems between you and your current partner are contributing to the problem.

Biological causes

  • Abnormal levels of hormones
  • Abnormal levels of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters
  • Inflammation and infection of the prostate or urethra
  • Hereditary characteristics

What are the risk factors?

Various factors may increase your risk of premature ejaculation, including:

  • Dyserection of the stomach. You may have an increased risk of premature ejaculation if you occasionally or regularly have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection. Fear of losing an erection may cause you to consciously or unconsciously rush through sex.
  • The stress.Emotional or mental stress in any area of your life can play a role in premature ejaculation, limiting your ability to relax and concentrate during intercourse.
