This new study continues the series of Discurv surveys on Europeans’ views of the sexiest celebrities from France, Italy, and other countries.
Younger respondents (18–34 years old) show a stronger preference for Alexander Zverev and Mats Hummels.
Older participants (50–65 and 66+) tend to favor well-known football figures like Manuel Neuer and Toni Kroos.
This highlights that perceptions of attractiveness vary significantly across generations.
Some athletes, such as Manuel Neuer and Mats Hummels, enjoy balanced popularity between male and female respondents.
Others, like Alexander Zverev, receive disproportionately more votes from female participants.
Angelique Kerber and Alica Schmidt are perceived as the most attractive female athletes, though neither garners a particularly high vote share.
Men seem to participate more actively in this ranking, while women are more likely to abstain from voting.
Preferences vary by age group: younger generations lean toward Alica Schmidt, while older respondents favor Angelique Kerber and Magdalena Neuner.
Elyas M’Barek embodies the image of a sex symbol, especially for a young and female audience, and his presence in romantic and popular films makes him appealing to a broader public.
By contrast, Til Schweiger and Matthias Schweighöfer enjoy more balanced support between genders.
Traditional cinema actors like Daniel Brühl and Moritz Bleibtreu are particularly popular with older generations.
Lena Meyer-Landrut leads the ranking with 19%, largely due to her modern image and strong appeal among the younger generation.
Close behind are Diane Kruger (13%) and Nora Tschirner (11%), who enjoy broader, cross-generational popularity.
While men vote more frequently for Lena Meyer-Landrut and Diane Kruger, women distribute their votes more evenly among multiple actresses.
Looking at age groups, younger respondents favor Lena Meyer-Landrut and Emilia Schüle, while older ones tend toward Diane Kruger and Heike Makatsch.
Notably, 16% of respondents did not find any of these actresses particularly attractive — a significantly lower figure compared to male actors.
Very neutral category: low overall interest in male TV and entertainment personalities.
No clearly dominant charismatic figure, unlike in other categories (e.g., Heidi Klum among women).
Massimo Sinató and Joko Winterscheidt lead, but with low scores (10% each). High rate of indifferent respondents (45%), especially among men.
Highly fragmented vote distribution with no clear generational trend.
Male TV personalities are less frequently associated with a “sexy image” compared to their female counterparts, reinforcing a pattern observed in other categories.
Heidi Klum tops the ranking with 19% of the votes, making her the most attractive TV personality.
Her success stems from several factors:
While younger generations tend to favor modern social media stars, older respondents lean more toward classic fashion and TV icons.
Why does Claudia Schiffer particularly attract older generations?
Among 18–34-year-olds, there’s a clear preference for Max Giesinger and Tim Bendzko, who are younger and musically in tune with current trends.
At the same time, Mark Forster and Peter Fox remain very popular with this age group.
Respondents aged 35–49 distribute their votes more evenly among Xavier Naidoo, Mark Forster, and Peter Fox, suggesting this generation values musical diversity.
There is also a preference for long-standing artists with enduring fan bases.
For respondents aged 50–65 and 66+, Xavier Naidoo, Herbert Grönemeyer, and Udo Lindenberg are increasingly popular.
Younger artists like Max Giesinger struggle to gain traction in this group, indicating older people tend to favor established music legends.
Vanessa Mai leads the ranking with 16% of the votes, especially appealing to younger generations and male respondents.
Her success is mainly due to her modern and glamorous image.
Close behind are Helene Fischer (15%) and Lena Meyer-Landrut (14%), both benefiting from their status as pop and schlager icons.
Also notable is Sarah Connor (13%), who appeals to a wider audience, including more women and older respondents.
Gender-based preferences show clear differences: men predominantly vote for Vanessa Mai and Lena Meyer-Landrut, while women lean more toward Sarah Connor and Helene Fischer.
Age also plays a key role: younger respondents prefer modern, dynamic artists, while older generations prefer long-established singers.
Notably, only 10% of respondents didn’t find any of the listed singers attractive — a relatively low rate compared to other categories.
Female singers and actresses are perceived as more attractive than their male counterparts.
Highly media-visible figures (models, TV stars) are systematically rated more favorably.
Men are more inclined to rate the attractiveness of female celebrities.
Women have a more nuanced view of attractiveness and distribute their votes more evenly.
Younger generations prefer modern personalities with strong social media presence.
Older respondents prefer iconic figures associated with longevity and prestige.
Celebrities who maintain a glamorous and polished image are rated more highly.
Some celebrities win over audiences with a natural and approachable demeanor.
Male athletes and singers suffer from a lack of perceived attractiveness.
Categories featuring female celebrities are more polarized.
In collective perception, a celebrity’s attractiveness is based on a balance of fame, glamorous image, and charisma.
However, this perception varies significantly depending on gender, age, and media presence — with the sex appeal of female stars being far more distinctly recognized than that of male celebrities.
