    If the operation is very quick and non-invasive, however, one should be cautious: it is not effective at first. Simply because sperm remains in the genital tract which can persist for up to several weeks after the operation. It is therefore essential to keep another means of contraception for the first few months following the operation. A spermogram will be carried out after about twenty ejaculations to confirm the total absence of sperm in the sperm.
