Oh oh oh it’s Christmas! And if we often talk about the big bearded man and his elves, we forget about the Santa Clauses who know how to delight our senses. But which Santa Claus do you think will be the sexiest?
Who says Christmas has to be all about Santa Claus?! We often forget that Santa doesn’t live alone ! Imagine… Alone… Far from everything… Surrounded by elves… All year long. Impossible! He needs a companion. In fact, here are 10 ways to have fun with your partner this holiday season. But where does the legend come from?
Mother Christmas exists in many legends
In Italy, Mother Christmas is likened to Befana, in Russia to Babushka and in Spain to Saint Catherine. What they all have in common is that they too distribute gifts to children.
The stories of Befana and Babushka are similar. The story goes that an old woman living in a wooden house is visited at Christmas by the Three Wise Men, who announce the birth of Christ and offer to accompany them. The old woman, not wanting to go out on that freezing night, refused the Magi’s offer. A few minutes later, however, she regretted her gesture and decided to fill a bag full of gifts and set off to join them. Throughout the night, she searched and searched, but could not find the Magi. On her way, she asked a child if he had seen the Three Wise Men, but he said no. The old woman gave him a toy to thank him, and then did the same with another child, and so on, until she had distributed all the toys in her bag. She then returns every year to hand out toys and see if the Three Wise Men are still around.
The slight difference in the Befana story is that she distributes sweets and biscuits for the good children, and coal for the little rascals. She distributes them on the night of January 5, before Epiphany, and places them in the socks that each child has previously placed by the fireplace.
The meeting of Santa Claus and Mother Christmas
The story goes that the real Mrs. Claus was a woman abandoned by her husband and children and living alone. One Christmas Eve, while she was keeping vigil, she heard Santa Claus coming to drop off a gift for her. She went to meet him, and the two of them fell instantly in love, so similar were they physically. Santa invited her to follow him to Lapland, and she accepted. She adopted the same style of dress as her husband: a red coat with white fur trim, a red skirt to match her coat and black boots. And so Santa grew a beard to distinguish him from his wife.
