Scarlett Johansson starred in several critically acclaimed independent films, including Ghost World (2001), Lost in Translation and La Jeune Fille à la Perle (2003). The latter two films earned her two Golden Globe nominations in 20031.
She then went on to star in three films with Woody Allen: the thriller Match Point (2005), the comedy Scoop (2006) and the comedy-drama Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008). At the same time, she diversified, starring in the blockbuster The Island (2005), the historical thriller Two Sisters for a King (2008) and the romantic comedy Ce que pensent les hommes (2009).
In the 2010s, she became a mainstay of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Natasha Romanoff, the notorious Black Widow of the Avengers. Occasionally, she returned to more complex roles, playing Janet Leigh in the biopic Hitchcock (2013) or an alien in Under the Skin (2013). But above all, she established herself as an action blockbuster headliner, carrying Lucy (2014) and then Ghost in the Shell (2017).
