Who is Kim Kardashian West?
Kim Kardashian West was born on October 21, 1980 in Beverly Hills, California. She was catapulted to fame when a scandalous video featuring her sexual exploits with her former boyfriend, rapper Ray J., was revealed online (incidentally, sold by her mother). Since then, she’s been able to capitalize on her fame with her curvaceous style, a hit reality show and a series of workout DVDs. In 2006, she opened the DASH boutique with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé. In 2014, she married rapper Kanye West. So much for the summary.
Growing up in Beverly Hills
Kim Kardashian West is a model, a reality TV star, an entrepreneur and a socialite (a friend of Paris Hilton, from whom she stole everything to make a name for herself). She is the second of four children born to the late Robert Kardashian and his first wife, Kris, whom he divorced in 1989. Two sisters were added when her mother married former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner, now the notorious transgender Caitlyn.
Kardashian, it seems, is almost destined for stardom. A preschool classmate of Paris Hilton, she grew up under the glare and privilege of Beverly Hills, getting a close-up view of the pleasures and trappings of Hollywood. Her father, the founder of Movie Tunes, Inc. a music and marketing company, was a prominent lawyer. A close friend of OJ Simpson for many years, Robert was one of the soccer star’s defense attorneys during his murder trial. Sadly, his father died of esophageal cancer in October 2003.
Her mother, Kris, a socialite and former children’s boutique owner, now manages her daughter’s career (or her daughters’, for that matter) and also participates in business management contracts with the rest of her children. A diamond cruncher, she capitalizes on her offspring.
An attempt at a solo career
While attending an all-girls Catholic high school, Kim Kardashian worked for her father’s company. When he died, the company was left to her and her siblings. They have since sold it. She attempted an entry into the business world, forming Kimsaprincess Productions, LLC, which saw the release of three successful training videos starring – you guessed it – Kim Kardashian.
In 2006, Kiki returned to business with her family. She and her two sisters opened the DASH boutique (named after the family surname) in Calabasas, California. A showcase for the owners’ personal styles, the store featured some of the sisters’ favorite American designers. The boutique then expanded its activities, opening stores in Miami and New York. As well as a pop-up in Southampton in 2014. However, the New York premises closed in December 2016. And in April 2018, the sisters announced that they were ceasing operations altogether.

Despite her commercial activities, it was the famous sex tape she shot with R & B singer Ray J. that catapulted her to superstar status. In early 2007, a video of Kardashian and the rapper in bed circulated. It was placed in the hands of Vivid Entertainment, a major adult film production company. Vivid paid $1 million for the rights to the 30-minute tape. The company widely promoted the release of the video, which it called Kim Kardashian Superstar.
Kardashian quickly countered with legal action, suing the company for invasion of privacy. But in May 2007, three months after the video debuted, she agreed to a $5 million settlement. But it was later revealed that her mother had sold the video and that the whole thing had been calculated in advance.

Reality TV star: Keeping up with the Kardashians
Around the time of the video’s release, Kardashian began making her way onto the TV screen for a completely different experience, back when E! Network debuted a new reality series called Keeping up with the Kardashians.
Produced byAmerican Id ol host Ryan Seacrest, the show follows the lives of Kim; her sisters, Kourtney and Khloé; brother Robert Jr; mother Kris Jenner; stepfather Bruce Jenner; and Kris and Bruce’s two young daughters, Kendall and Kylie. In a memorable episode of the first season, Kim discusses with her family an offer from Playboy to appear nude in the magazine. Kardashian finally agreed to do so and went all out for publication in the December 2007 issue.
An assertive choice
Her decision to appear in the magazine shows just how far Kardashian has come in terms of body confidence. A big part of her brand is her curves, something she hadn’t always been in love with, she admits. “I used to say my prayers before bed and pray that I would stop growing,” she told Playboy. That has apparently changed. “You still see the typical skinny models and I’m not that and I’m proud not to be,” she said following the shoot. Since then, Kim Kardashian’s celebrity status has only grown.
The young woman who became the most Googled celebrity in 2008, ending Britney Spears’ four-year run, became the face of Bongo Jeans in 2008. In March 2009, Kardashian helped launch a service drawing on the expertise of Hollywood’s most revered stylists. In addition, she launched her own fragrance line, a Sears fashion collection with Kourtney and Khloe, Kardashian-branded tanning products and much more. With millions of followers on social media, she receives between $10,000 and $20,000 per publication for promoting products from various brands.
Relationships and marriages!
As a reality TV star, Kardashian’s love life has attracted a great deal of media attention. She was barely 20 when she married music producer Damon Thomas in 2000. The marriage ended after four years. After her divorce, Kardashian had a string of high-profile boyfriends. These included singer Nick Lachey and attacking halfback Reggie Bush.
In 2010, Kardashian had a relationship with professional basketball player Kris Humphries. The couple married the following August, in a lavish, televised ceremony attended by over 400 guests. But marital bliss would be short-lived for Kardashian and Humphries. The latter filed for divorce after just 72 days of marriage. Humphries instead filed for an annulment and claimed the marriage was a fraud. In April 2013, it was announced that Kardashian and Humphries had settled their divorce. They thus avoided a long-awaited trial scheduled for May 2013.
Marriage to Kanye West
As her divorce proceedings dragged on, in early 2012 Kimy became involved with famed rapper Kanye West. In December 2012, the couple revealed they were expecting their first child together. Overjoyed, she posted on her blog, “It’s true!!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky.”. She and West welcomed a daughter on June 15, 2013 in Los Angeles, California. A few days after the child’s birth, it was revealed that the couple had decided to name their daughter North and call her “Nori”.
On October 21, 2013, Kardashian and West got engaged on her 33rd birthday. West proposed to her at San Francisco’s AT & T baseball stadium, which he rented for the occasion. The couple tied the knot the following May. They held their rehearsal dinner in a famous French monument, Versailles. The ceremony itself took place on May 24, 2014 at Forte di Belvedere, a historic fortress, in Florence, Italy. Her father-in-law, Bruce Jenner, led her down the aisle as famed singer Andrea Bocelli sang “Con te Partiro”.
A wedding full of celebrities
In addition to her family, Kardashian and West were joined by celebrities. These included director Steven McQueen and actor Jaden Smith on their special day. During the tenth season of her reality series, Kardashian documented her desire to get pregnant again and her fertility issues. In May 2015, she revealed in a teaser for her show that she was pregnant with her second child. The couple welcomed their son, Saint West, on December 5, 2015.
In 2017, Kardashian celebrated the imminent arrival of child No. 3 with her husband. She threw a stunning cherry blossom-themed baby shower. She also revealed to the public that the new arrival was a girl, Chicago. As well as the emotional difficulties of having to use a surrogate for health reasons. They are now expecting their4th child, under the same conditions.
