Charlize Theron was born on August 7, 1975, in Benoni, South Africa. This South African-born actress is renowned for her versatility. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a serial killer in Monster (2003).
Our beautiful blonde grew up on a farm in South Africa. At the age of 13, wanting to continue her ballet studies, she began attending a boarding school specializing in the arts. During a visit home at the age of 15, her mother shot her father in self-defense after being assaulted by him while drunk. At 16, Charlize Theron moved to Milan to work as a model. Two years later, she moved to New York, where she continued her modeling career and began studying at the Joffrey Ballet School. A knee injury, however, ended her chances of a career in dance. Charlize Theron has finally moved to Hollywood. She was discovered by an agent making a noisy scene after a bank refused to cash a check,. She then began landing a few small parts, one of which – in 2 Days in the Valley (1996) – got her favorable notice and paved the way for her first lead, in The Devil’s Advocate (1997). Her character in the sci-fi thriller Prometheus (2012), the leader of a space expedition, was equally icy and imperious.
Theron’s later roles included a gunslinger assisting a shepherd played by Seth MacFarlane in the parody A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014). Imperator Furiosa, an intimidating warrior on a mission to save a group of enslaved women, in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). And Libby Day, a woman investigating the brutal murder of her family in Dark Places (2015), an adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s thriller novel . In the animated Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), Theron provided the voice of a gruff monkey. In 2017, she starred in the action thrillers The Fate of the Furious – the eighth film in the Fast and Furious series – and Atomic Blonde, in which she played a British spy.
