The 4th edition of the Prix de la Nouvelle Érotique organized by the association Les Avocats du Diable will take place on the night of Saturday October 27 to Sunday October 28. If you don’t have a talent for writing, you can still enjoy the essays! Modern Milf presents the concept. Get reading!
By now, everyone’s heard of the all-nighters (not the ones where you don’t sleep, but the others, where everything is theoretically accessible free of charge), but you may have heard of a very special all-nighter: the Prix de la Nouvelle Érotique. A prize awarded to writers who will make you crumple your sheets, wet your panties or get a hard-on like a donkey at the mere mention of it.
Here’s a short presentation of the association Les Avocats du Diable (we haven’t got much longer anyway!)
The association Les Avocats du Di able was founded in 2001, at the same time as the publishing house, AuDiable Vauvert. Its mission is “to promote the development of books, literature and reading, by encouraging a cultural mix and a diversity of audiences of all origins, in the commune, the département, the region and beyond. Its actions are resolutely cultural and festive”.
Jacques-Olivier Liby, president of the association, is the instigator of this original idea, which has found its public and enthusiasts.
You can find them on their website, as well as the authors taking part in the competition, or on their Facebookpage.
A new prize on the literary scene
When we think of literary prizes in France, we automatically think of the many famous awards presented each autumn at the start of the new literary season. We forget that the French publishing landscape includes countless literary prizes, organized and awarded by associations, networks of independent booksellers, publishing houses and bloggers, and is therefore not limited to the Goncourt, Fémina, Renaudot, Médicis and consort.
The competition itself
Following the success of the first edition, with the Erotic Short Story Prize won by Isabelle Cousteil with Noir d’ancre, the association is launching its 4th edition.
Through this competition, Les Avocats du Diable intends to revive a literary genre that is playful and reasoned, intellectualized and subversive. Each author will be exposed through the mind as well as the body, and it’s the ability to combine these two elements that the jury will debate during its deliberations. The winner will receive a cheque for 3,000 euros and a 3-week stay at the Avocats du Diable writing residency in Vauvert (30). So, what themes will they tackle? Will they be about the G-spot or cunnilingus, or more?
Registrations are limited to the first 300 people to sign up. As a spectator, you’ll still be able to enjoy a night’s reading of the texts written by these delicate writers, which you can find on their website.
Criteria for participation
Entries are reserved for authors who have already published a work, but without reserve: digital, paper, blog, etc. Just so you know, if you’d like to enter next year, here are the terms and conditions once you’ve registered:
- Create a work of literature based on the erotic universe.
- Respect the erotic atmosphere and the double constraint: context and final word, which will be revealed ten minutes before the start of the performance!
- Write a short story in French, in a limited timeframe of eight hours, on Saturday _ October, from 11:59 p.m. to Sunday morning _ October, at 7:00 a.m., PARIS GMT (to mark the switch from summer to winter time). Writing time will therefore be limited, even if the time change gives each participant an extra hour to write his or her short story.
- The maximum number of characters is 20,000, including spaces.
- All entries must be returned in WORD format by 7.00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
A successful event every year for the past 4 years
In 2016, the context was “Est épris qui croyait prendre”, and “ricochet” was the closing word. A sum of 3,000 euros is awarded to the winner, as well as a three-week stay at the Avocats du Diable author’s residence in Vauvert, a commune in the Gard region on the edge of the Camargue Natural Park.
Strongly supported by the literary press – a rare occurrence for such a recent prize – the competition attracted a great deal of interest. Indeed, Les Avocats du Diable received over 540 entries. 406 authors were selected to take part. 272 authors succeeded in completing their entries in 8 hours, while respecting the constraint of the final word. The jury had six months to deliberate. The winner will be crowned on the night of March 25 to 26, 2017, during the changeover to daylight saving time. That’s right.
Fancy a bit of erotic reading? We call it ASMR. There are fetishists completely addicted to this kind of literature. As the genre specialist“Voyage au bout de la nuit” shows.
In the meantime, a little bonus!
