Katsuni’s incredible odyssey

Katsuni-xlovecam

From 2001 to 2013, Katsuni was the Asian tornado that invaded the screens of porn fans .With 31 international awards, she became the world’s most appreciated French X-actress. Madefamous at the age of 22 by the Colmax production company, she has had a brilliant career and has managed to retrain .

To give you a quick overview of her career, before going into more detail, Katsuni (real name Céline Tran) quickly broke into X-rated films. In 2007, she signed an exclusive contract with American production company Digital Playground. It was during this collaboration that she starred in the most expensive film in the history of X-rated movies, “Pirates 2”, and became producer of “My Fucking Life”.

She then became a columnist on TPS Star and on Canal in the Journal du Hard (of course). She also appeared on Laurent Ruquier’s show. In 2009, she lent her voice to the feature film “Les Lascars”, and in 2010 continued her career as a producer with an X-rated series entitled “Les castings de Katsuni”. At the end of her career, she continued with other projects, which I’ll tell you about later.

Despite the many difficulties that followed her reconversion, she remains an expert on sex. Céline Tran then reoriented her career, becoming an actress for TV series and, more recently, a martial arts film, “Jailbreak”, on Netflix, signed comic book scripts, and told the story of her life in “Ne dis pas que tu aimes ça” (Fayard). Today, she’s still multiplying projects, directing the new Porn’Pop collection for Glénat and giving sex advice. Because sex and the relationship with the body remain at the heart of her life!

A Lyonnaise of Vietnamese origin

Born in Lyon on April 9, 1979, Céline Tran is the fruit of a mixed love affair. Her mother is French and her father Vietnamese. This mix of cultures quickly brought her face to face with her “difference” in the schoolyard, where she was called a “chintok”. A remark that marked her and made her angry, understanding the insult behind the word. Despite this, Katsuni had a rather quiet childhood.

She discovered the world of nightlife when she was a student at Science Po and began gogo-dancing and stripping. Although shy and introverted, she loved this “double life”, studious by day and exuberant by night. What does she love about her nocturnal activities? Having the feeling of taking possession of her body, feeling her self-confidence grow. She loved the power the podium gave her over her spectators.

This “difference” gave her real inner strength. Indeed, when she wanted to get into porn, she was often turned down for projects on the grounds that she didn’t fit the stereotype of the young French woman men usually fantasized about. So she left for the United States, where she felt totally accepted. Destined to study at Science Po, she gave destiny a kick in the pants and felt free to follow her ambitions.

How Céline Tran became Katsuni

One day, a photographer working for Penthouse launched his own X-rated film production company. He was looking for a muse and proposed her. After a few days’ consideration, Céline accepted. In the midst of exploring her already intense sexuality, this was a good way to take things further. When her parents found out, it was very difficult, but they remained close.

And so began her 13 years in the world of porn. These were years she particularly appreciated, with values and a way of working that she no longer finds on today’s shoots. Hence the end of her career as a porn actress.

A relatively long career for the industry, like some of her colleagues who share the same passion. Katsuni explains this by the fact that she has always behaved in a professional manner, considering porn “a real profession and taking it seriously without taking herself too seriously”. She loved it and showed it.

Why did she stop ?

Céline Tran quit pornography in 2013. She explains: ” I’d moved on, and so had the porn industry, and I felt out of step, with the feeling that there was nothing more to learn from it. I wanted to experience my sexuality in a different, intimate way, to stop seeing my body as a working tool. I realized that it was me too, and that it was time to take care of it. The danger of porn can lie in becoming too detached from the body .

She adds that she learned a lot about men and women: ” I saw how fragile men were, locked into the obligation of virility and the role of the guy who has to get hard. They put a lot of pressure on themselves, and are torn between the need to “deliver”, while also learning to let women take over. As for women, it seems to me that they often have a great ignorance of their bodies, and a problem of confidence. They often feel guilty.

Nevertheless, Katsuni, now Céline Tran, has never ceased to multiply her projects related to sexuality. She might as well share her experience!

Her latest projects

After many obstacles, rejections, cancellations, … Céline Tran managed to retrain and start all over again. In 2018, comics publisher Ankama offered her the chance to start writing screenplays (Heartbreaker #1 and #2). Director François Descraques offered her a role in the cult series “Le Visiteur du Futur”. She starred in the feature-length action film Jailbreak (on Netflix) and had many other projects on the go in writing, film and more. She also continues to train in various coaching disciplines. She believes in hard work and perseverance. Values she shares at a TED Talk.

Her Porn Pop collection at Glénat

It may seem an unusual collaboration, but it’s an enriching one for everyone involved. Céline Tran accompanies artists in the development of their projects. She even promotes them, writing prefaces for example. Of course, the themes remain sex and sexuality. You can also find humorous works, such as the parody “Petit Paul” by Bastien Vivès and the guide “Les joies du sex-toy et autres pratiques sexuelles” by Mathew Nolan and Erika Moen.

Always there for a little sex advice

As we said, when there’s an experience, it’s a shame not to share it. Although she claims to be neither a sexologist nor a psychologist, she does put her expertise to good use. Her ongoing quest for knowledge of the body has led her to train in wellness fields such as massage. That’s why she coaches people by giving little tips via the networks or in the office.
