Intimate health

Almost 50% of people do not change their underwear on a daily basis

Hygiene is important for the body, and intimate hygiene is even more important to avoid illness or other discomforts. But some people don’t change their underwear every day. A very bad habit.

If you’re in the habit of brushing your teeth, showering or grooming, it makes sense to change your underwear on a daily basis too. Yet 45% of people don’t change their underwear every day. Not a clean break at all!

Changing underwear for hygiene and comfort

Imagine meeting someone, having a tête-à-tête and then getting intimate. You get undressed and then, to your horror, you discover not-so-glorious marks on the other person’s underwear, or even a smell that makes your head spin, and not in the right direction. Catastrophe!

Yes, it seems that 45% of people wear the same underwear for 2 days or more. Underpants, briefs and panties had better be foolproof in these conditions!

In addition to the question of comfort, there’s also a question of hygiene. The material of your underwear counts to ensure that you don’t get irritations or infections like cystitis, for example. Being clean where pee and poo meet seems to be implacable logic! But not for everyone, since 13% of men wear their underwear for a week or more. We can’t imagine the state of the underpants and the fumes they give off.

Men and women concerned

So you’re thinking “of course it’s men”. Well, women aren’t left out either. “These results were split relatively evenly between men and women, disproving any theories about women being more hygiene-conscious than men, or vice versa,” a Tommy John representative told MailOnline after surveying 1,000 Americans.

Both men and women are affected. However, men more readily admit than women that they can wear the same underwear for 7 days or more.

Lingerie not renewed enough

It would seem that the cause of this prolonged wear is a lack of stock in the wardrobe (the good excuse). In fact, 46% of people don’t buy new underwear often enough to change regularly. They would tend to keep the same set for 1 year or more. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do your laundry!

According to lingerie brands, we should change our panties, briefs and briefs every six months to a year. This would prevent the proliferation of micro-organisms and fungi, which causeinfections andodors. Especially for women, who are more fragile in terms of intimate health. When we think of our old underwear in the closet… But at least they’re clean!
