Since the release of these films in the USA, the expression Milf has become part of everyday language, appearing in TV series and popular songs. A French romantic film called 20 ans d’écart was released in 2013, telling the story of a cougar woman named Alice Lantins (played by Virginie Efira), aged 38. In the same year, in the How I Met Your Mother chronicle, episode 6 of the second season features a second actor playing a gigolo, Stinson Barney. Cougar or Puma?
The term cougar was coined in 1905 by the Canadian ice lacrosse team Callister Paul and Lawton Zoe to describe female fans older than the players. The term was later popularized by the Toronto Sun, which published a scoop on cougars.
In addition, a book entitled “Cougar, a guide for older women” was written and published by author and commentator Gibson Valerie in 2002. In it, she recounts numerous relationships with young men 10 to 20 years younger than her own age.
