If you’ve got Netflix, and you’ re a fan ofAsian charm models, you’veprobablybing-watched all 5 episodes of thenew seasonofShow Bouillant (aka Risky Business in English). And rightly so!
After their season in Tokyo, the two Korean animators return to introduce us to different erotic worlds in Taiwan. Between humor and polite curiosity, they tackle somewhat taboo subjects, showing us just how little Taiwanese people are educated about sexuality, while at the same time dealing with very specific beauty criteria and codes of seduction.
This very interesting show (I loved both seasons) teaches you a lot about the mentality of this Asian people and their approach to human relationships. We also learn about beauty standards and why charming models are so successful. I’ll give you a quick summary of the facts to whet your appetite. Yes, that’s me, always trying to please and satisfy you..
Ahit series
netflix’s “Show Bouillant:Taiwan” is directed by Jeong Hyo-min, producer of “Witch Hunt” and “Hyori’s Bed & Breakfast”. It’s a brand-new talk-show concept that explores unknown figures in sexuality and the adult industry. This fast-paced variety show marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Jeong Hyo-min, and it carries deep meaning.
With episodes lasting around 30 minutes and a production cycle of just 4-5 months, the show aims to provide viewers with timely content. Because of the shorter airtime, the show presents character explorations in a fast-paced, unique and entertaining way.
A tandem that works
The hosts, Shin Dong-yeop and Sung Shi-kyung, have always been curious to discover the uncharted territories of sexual culture. Today, they’re going to talk to various personalities connected with sexual culture and listen to their authentic voices. And I find that their questions are always relevant, yet respectful. They cover every aspect of the subject they’re interested in. They also have a great sense of humor and self-mockery. They’re as interesting as the people they meet.

What can we learn from it?
It’s hard to choose between the multitude of information that is given throughout each episode. It’s all so rich and interesting, and you can’t help but compare it with the way we do things. Seduction in the East and West is very different. So are the criteria of beauty, which are very specific. Still, I’ll try to give you a few snippets that might make you want to find out more and dive in headfirst, as I did.
- Taiwan is a fairly conservative society
- JKF is the most popular monthly naughty magazine, with over 700 models
- Chu Chu (Jiu Jiu) was the most popular model in 2020 and 2021, earning 200,000,000 won a year (that’s just over €142,000, which is huge in Taiwan)
- Young Taiwanese are poorly educated about sexuality; it’s a taboo subject
- Personality is an asset in seduction, especially for charming models
- Bust, waist and hips are the first physical criteria looked at, and round or square women are quite popular
- Taiwanese used to prefer sassy girls, now they prefer cute and sexy ones
- Buying coca is slang for making love
- Many are still virgins at 30
- However, more and more young people are “test-driving” (having sex before becoming a couple)
Now, if you’d like to find out more, I invite you to watch the show. And maybe buy a ticket to go and meet the Taiwanese girl of your dreams.
